We turned pasta into gold earrings
We made pasta earrings
We’ve wanted to make pasta earrings for years. For a while we thought we'd make them in acrylic, same as many of our other earrings. But as we decided to start moving away from acrylic, and moving toward more sustainable, long-lasting pieces, this is where we landed and I am so glad we did.
All my designs start as a quick doodle, because if I don’t immediately put it on paper, I will absolutely forget every idea I have (the ADHD girlies get it). Then I digitize it, usually on adobe illustrator, or procreate.
A few years ago I got a 3D printer to make cookie cutters for clay, and other pottery tools. I started learning to design in 3D (on tinkercad, and eventually blender and fusion) and had so much fun making my own designs and 3D printing them.
Fast-forward a few years, I decided: let’s make pasta earrings in stainless steel and PVD-plate them in 14k gold. PVD plated jewelry is waterproof, tarnish resistant, hypoallergenic, and very long-lasting. (Some brands claim PVD is “life-proof” and maybe they’re right, I don’t have the answer for that, but we are confident they will last a very long time)
There were manufacturing hiccups along the way. It was trial and error for EIGHT MONTHS from first draft to finished earring. But that's just part of the process (running a small business, amiright?)
Once we finalized the pieces, we lasered our logo really tiny, right into the backs of them. This was very exciting for me ☺︎ I'm honestly so proud of how they turned out.
So meet our new favorite trio: Farfalle, ravioli, and cavatappi (cellentani if ya nasty)
Hypoallergenic, waterproof, tarnish resistant, and built to last
Available now!
I hope you love them as much as we do <3
